Kawardha/Raipur, April 24 (H.S.):
The armed forces’ aggressive strategy is yielding results in Naxal-affected districts, with many Naxalites surrendering. Notably, wanted Naxalite Ramesh, known as Atom Guddu, and his wife Savita, or Lachhi Poyam, surrendered to Kabirdham police today, with a reward of seven lakhs offered for their capture. Rajnandgaon Range IG Abhishek Shandilya attributed their surrender to the efforts of Kawardha police and encouraged other Naxalites to abandon violence and utilize the government’s rehabilitation policy.
Ramesh, 29, was an active member of Platoon No. 01, while Savita, 21, participated in the Tanda Area Committee, both engaged in Naxalite activities for eight years. Ramesh was injured during a 2019 gunfight, and both possessed firearms during their time in the organization. Post-surrender, they are entitled to government rehabilitation benefits. This event marks a significant achievement in the Naxal eradication initiative led by Kabirdham Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh and his team.
