War is a serious affair, not a romantic film: Gen Naravane

Pune, 12 May (HS): “War is not a romantic film, and

is a serious affair”, said retired Chief of Army General Manoj Naravane. Those

who criticize pause to the India-Pakistan war should understand that war or

violence is the last resort one should resort to. Those who lost their near

ones or those who are witnesses to the scene remain in trauma for several years.

They also suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and require help of

psychologists.

General Naravane was speaking during a programme

held in Pune. Fools compel us to indulge in activities like war, which we

should not welcome. If required, I will also join the armed forces in the war.

But war will be my last choice, he said. Diplomatic talks should be the priority

for working out the solution to any problem, he added.

We all are responsible for the security of the nation,

and should sort out differences through discussion. The differences may in the family,

communities or between regions of states. Violence is not the solution to any

kind of dispute, he said.
