West Indies Vs Australia 2nd Test : Jayden Seales's late wickets and Brandon King's 75 runs put Australia in trouble on Day 2

Brandon King

Grenada, July 5 (H.S.): The second day of the second Test match between West Indies and Australia concluded dramatically with West Indies’ Jayden Seales dismissing both Australian openers late in the day. West Indies, bolstered by Brandon King’s 75 runs and contributions from the lower order, allowed Australia only a 33-run first-innings lead.

Australia’s second innings began poorly, with Sam Konstas getting out in the first over and Usman Khawaja falling LBW to Seales, who used a superb inswinger. Despite Khawaja’s unsuccessful review, Australia ended the day with Cameron Green (6)* and nightwatchman Nathan Lyon (2)* at the crease, facing an uncomfortable position. In West Indies’ first innings, they were solid at 111/3 and 169/4, with a notable 58-run partnership between King and Shai Hope.

King’s half-century came off 77 balls, featuring two sixes, but he fell to Lyon’s extra-bouncy delivery, secured by DRS after initially being given not out. Alzarri Joseph and Shamarh Brooks added a crucial 51-run partnership, while the last wicket extended play, ending West Indies at 253 runs. Nathan Lyon led Australian bowlers with 3/75, while King’s performance was a highlight for West Indies.

Summary Score:

Australia: First Innings 286 and Second Innings 12/2 (Green 6*, Lyon 2*, Seales 2/5)

West Indies: First Innings 253 (King 75, Campbell 40)Australia’s overall lead: 45 runs
