
Grenada, July 4 (HS): In the second match of the Test series against West Indies, Australia struggled to 286 runs, with Alex Carey and Beau Webster salvaging the innings through a vital sixth-wicket partnership of 112 runs. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, but the start was disastrous, losing three wickets in the first session.
Usman Khawaja fell LBW for 16 runs to Alzarri Joseph, followed by Sam Konstas’s 25 runs caught off Anderson Phillip. Steve Smith returned from injury but scored only 3 runs before getting out to Joseph’s delivery. Cameron Green had a chance but was caught in the slips on the last ball before lunch. After lunch, Travis Head also went for a catch to wicketkeeper Shai Hope, leaving Australia at 110 for five wickets. Carey played aggressively, scoring a brisk 63 runs, while Webster showed resilience with 60 runs before being run out.
Rain caused a brief delay, but Australia’s innings ended at 286 runs in the 67th over, with Nathan Lyon as the last wicket. Alzarri Joseph excelled for West Indies, taking four wickets for 61 runs. The West Indies began their innings, but poor visibility led to the stumps being called, ending the day’s play.
