Why no permanent body to conduct CLAT: SC

YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia approaches Supreme Court in obscene comment case

New Delhi, May 7 (HS): The Supreme Court has expressed dissatisfaction with the process of preparing question papers for the entrance exam for the five-year LLB program. A bench led by Justice B.R. Gavai questioned why there is no permanent body for the CLAT exam. The next hearing in the matter will be on May 16.

During the hearing, the court stated that it does not want to intervene in educational matters as it is not an expert in that field. The court emphasized that when academics also make mistakes that affect the careers of millions of students, it has no choice but to step in.

The Supreme Court stayed the Delhi High Court’s order from April 30, which had instructed the Consortium of National Law Universities to reissue the results within four weeks, deeming some questions in the entrance exam for the five-year LLB program as incorrect. Justice B.R. Gavai directed the Consortium of National Law Universities to mention on its website that the verdict of the Delhi High Court has been challenged in the Supreme Court.

The Delhi High Court had instructed the Consortium of National Law Universities on April 23 to reissue the results within four weeks. This decision has been challenged by the Consortium of National Law Universities in the Supreme Court.
