New Delhi, June 12 (H.S.): The governing body of women’s tennis, WTA, announced on Wednesday that female players who wish to undergo fertility protection procedures will be allowed to take time off from the sport and will be able to return to competition with a protected ranking. The new WTA rule aims to help female players balance family goals and professional careers. This move comes after WTA announced a policy three months ago that offered players paid maternity leave of up to 12 months.WTA stated in a release, “Under the new rule, players can now take time off from professional tennis for reproductive protection procedures such as egg or embryo freezing and safely return to competition with a protected ranking.”This decision is seen as a positive change for female players, allowing them to manage both their personal lives and sports careers more effectively.
