3 succumb to asphyxiation in domestic fire due to short circuit in UP

Basti, 13 April (HS): Police stated on Sunday that a

lady and her two children died of asphyxiation in an early morning fire in

their home sparked by a short circuit in the district’s Harraiya town. They

claimed the fire started at 3.30 a.m. in Sunil Kesarwani’s three-story

residence on Sarafa Mandi Lane.

Kesarwani’s wife and two children died of suffocation, and he is currently in

serious condition in a hospital, according to Circle Officer (CO) Harraiya

Sanjay Singh. Kesarwani has been referred to a higher-level facility in Ayodhya

for treatment.

According to the CO, Sunil’s wife Puja (30), daughter Saurabhi (4), and

three-month-old son Baba were brought to the Harraiya community health clinic,

where medics ruled them dead.

Dr. Nandlal Yadav of the CHC

claimed they died from asphyxia since the room was filled with smoke. They had

no burn damage on their bodies. Police said the remains had been sent for a

post-mortem.
