Mah Govt puts Hindi mandate on hold

(HS): The Maharashtra Government has stayed the order to make Hindi language

compulsory as third language for students of Class I to V, School Education Minister

Dada Bhuse informed the media on Tuesday. A fresh Government Resolution (GR)

would be issued in the issue, he added.

The decision to

make Hindu compulsory received opposition and resistance from various sections

of people and political parties.

The decision

came days after the Maharashtra Government’s Language Consultation Committee

urged the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to revoke the decision.
