Stock market fluctuates, with slight uptick in Sensex and Nifty

New Delhi, April 23 (H.S.): The domestic stock market has shown a strong upward trend today for the seventh consecutive trading day. As a result of this surge, the Sensex has once again crossed the 80,000 mark. The trading session today also began on a strong note. After the market opened, buyers and sellers began trying to dominate each other. Despite this tug of war, the stock market remained consistently in the green. After the first hour of trading, the Sensex was trading up by 0.17 percent and Nifty by 0.10 percent.

During the first hour of trading, major stocks in the stock market such as HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Mahindra & Mahindra, and TCS were trading with gains ranging from 7.08 percent to 2.35 percent. On the other hand, shares of SBI Life Insurance, Bajaj Auto, Trent Limited, Kotak Mahindra, and HDFC Bank were seen trading with declines ranging from 0.49 percent to 0.34 percent.

So far in trading, 2,411 shares were actively trading in the stock market. Of these, 1,341 shares were trading in the green, making profits, while 1,070 shares were trading in the red, incurring losses. Similarly, among the 30 shares included in the Sensex, 17 shares were in the green, supported by buying, while 13 shares were trading in the red under selling pressure. In the Nifty, out of 50 shares, 28 shares were trading in the green and 22 shares were in the red.

The BSE Sensex opened today with a jump of 546.50 points at the level of 80,142.09 points. Shortly after the start of trading, supported by buying, this index surged to 80,254.55 points. However, after profit booking began, the index dipped temporarily to 79,715.05 points. Amid continuous buying and selling in the market, after the first hour of trading, the Sensex was trading at 79,731.36 points, up by 135.77 points at 10:15 AM.

Similarly, the NSE’s Nifty also began trading today with a rise of 190.35 points at the level of 24,357.60 points. After the market opened, a tug-of-war between buyers and sellers began, causing fluctuations in this index’s movement as well. With support from buying, the index surged to 24,359.30 points, but due to selling pressure, it also fell to 24,189.55 points. After the first hour of trading, amid continuous buying and selling in the market, the Nifty was trading at 24,192.30 points, up by 25.05 points at 10:15 AM.

Previously, on the last trading day Tuesday, the Sensex closed at 79,595.59 points, gaining 187.09 points or 0.24 percent. Meanwhile, the Nifty concluded Tuesday’s trading at 24,167.25 points, up by 41.70 points or 0.17 percent.
