Lucknow,
23 April (HS): Uttar Pradesh intends to transform its silk industry by engaging
rural communities into the State Rural Livelihood Mission. The project focuses
on training, technology, and financial help throughout 15 districts, with the
goal of increasing women’s participation. The Mukhyamantri Resham Vikas Yojana
contributes to enhance silk production by leveraging current demand and
promoting traditional craftspeople.
According
to an official announcement issued on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh government
has announced an ambitious plan to considerably increase silk output by
2025-26, joining 7,500 rural groups to the State Rural Livelihood Mission. With
a focus on technology integration and training, 15 districts will be supported
to empower silk producers through contemporary methods and financial aid, with
the goal of increasing global competitiveness and strengthening the rural
economy.
An
arrangement aims to include 50,000 members of 5,000 women’s groups in silk
manufacturing over the next five years.
This decision is in line with the ODOP system, which aims to increase
income while also promoting sustainability. Currently, with the state’s silk
output at 400 metric tons and a consumption of 3,500 metric tonnes, the new
effort, which includes the Mukhyamantri Resham Vikas Yojana, lays the
groundwork for a self-sufficient silk sector, aided by a considerable rise in
exports.
