Hyderabad, 25 April (H.S.): The Hyderabad police have launched a verification drive for Pakistani nationals who are currently residing in the city under various types of visas. This drive was initiated after receiving directives from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
According to official records, there are currently 208 Pakistani nationals in Hyderabad, with majority of them holding long-term visas. However, there are no Pakistani nationals with valid SAARC visas present in the three commissionerates of the city.
This verification drive is happening amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, with recent incidents such as the Pahalgam terror attack and Indian Army’s retaliation against Pakistani military firing along the Line of Control (LoC). As part of these security measures, India has also notified Pakistan of suspending the Indus Waters Treaty due to Pakistan’s involvement in cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The visa verification process by the police is being conducted to ensure the safety and security of the city and its residents.
