BJP criticizes Karnataka CM's war remarks trending in Pakistan

K'taka CM Siddaramaiah's Statement Going Viral in Pakistan

New Delhi, 27 April (H.S.): Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and escalating tensions with Pakistan, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s remarks have gained traction in Pakistani media. His statement, which suggests a lack of necessity for war against Pakistan—attributed to security failures—has been depicted as indicative of rising dissent within India. In contrast, BJP leaders have criticized him, asserting that the central government is prepared for military action.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi echoed this sentiment, condemning Congress leaders, including Siddaramaiah, for trivializing national security issues.

In a sharp critique, Amit Malviya from the BJP’s Information & Technology Department accused Siddaramaiah of prioritizing Muslim votes over national interest, highlighting his security-focused comments amidst ongoing attacks on Hindus.

R Ashoka, Leader of Opposition, accused Siddaramaiah of being a puppet of an enemy nation amid sensitive national security concerns and potential war threats.

R. Ashoka, took to social media to mock Siddaramaiah’s newfound prominence in Pakistan, implying that his comments have earned him an honorary distinction there. Ashok provocatively stated that the Pakistani government might bestow upon Siddaramaiah the Nishan-e-Pakistan, highlighting his perceived alignment with Pakistan’s interests amidst a sensitive national crisis.

Congratulations to you. If you ever visit Pakistan again, you are guaranteed royal hospitality. It will not be surprising if the Pakistani government honours you with the highest civilian award, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, as a great peace ambassador who has advocated for Pakistan, he said in a post on ‘X’, with a clipping of a Pakistani news channel playing up Siddaramaiah’s statement.

K’taka BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra also condemned Siddaramaiah for expressing sympathy towards Pakistan and criticized him for fostering a negative perception of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, questioning his patriotism.

Overall, Siddaramaiah’s remarks have sparked significant backlash from the BJP, framing the discourse around national security and realigning political tensions in India’s complex relationship with Pakistan.
