Nalbari (Assam), 27 April (HS): Nalbari police achieved a major success under the anti-drug drive. Police said on Sunday that acting on specific information near Station Road, Sonpur, a person named Suresh Das was arrested. Police have seized 19.55 grams of suspected heroin, a motorcycle (AS 14 R 9076) and ₹2,180 in cash from him.

According to police sources, Suresh Das was involved in the drug smuggling business for a long time. During preliminary interrogation, Suresh has also given some important information to the police, on the basis of which the police are looking for other possible accused. The recovered heroin has been sent for forensic examination to assess its quality and market value.

Police said that a case has been registered against Suresh Das under the NDPS Act and the process of presenting him in the court is underway. Officials said that the drive against drugs will be further intensified in Nalbari district so that such illegal activities can be curbed.
