
Delhi, 29 April (H.S.): Following a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, mainly tourists, Pakistani troops have breached the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control for the fifth consecutive night.
The unprovoked firing occurred on the night of April 28-29, affecting areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, and the Akhnoor sector, prompting a swift response from the Indian Army. An official statement from the Indian Army confirmed the small arms fire from Pakistan and emphasized their measured counteraction. This incident marks the fifth straight night of ceasefire violations, escalated tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent attack.
Prior violations occurred on April 27-28 in Poonch and Kupwara, with no casualties reported. In retaliation, the Indian military has consistently responded to the provocations. In reaction to the Pahalgam attack, India implemented several punitive measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari land border, and expelling Pakistani military attaches.
In response, Pakistan announced the closure of its airspace to Indian airlines and halted trade with India, including transactions through third countries. New Delhi also mandated the departure of Pakistani nationals who entered through Attari by May 1.
