New Delhi, April 29 (H.S.): The Congress party has called for a special session of Parliament due to the widespread outrage following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, have urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene this session promptly.
In a letter dated April 28, Kharge emphasized the need for a unified response to the brutal attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, stressing the importance of both houses meeting soon to address the situation.
Gandhi echoed this sentiment in his own letter, appealing for immediate action to unify against terrorism during this crucial time. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh noted that discussions with other opposition parties led to this request, highlighting the aim of demonstrating a collective commitment to unity in the face of terrorism.
Ramesh expressed hope that the Prime Minister would agree to hold the special session to reaffirm solidarity at this challenging juncture, insisting that this is a time for unity rather than division.
