New Delhi, April 29 (H.S.): On Akshay Tritiya, buying gold and silver is deemed highly auspicious, yet a significant surge in prices has been noted this year, potentially influencing market trends. Despite this, an estimated ₹16,000 crore in gold and silver trade is anticipated.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) reports that gold is priced at ₹1 lakh for 10 grams, while silver has reached ₹1 lakh per kilogram, compared to last year’s ₹73,500 and ₹86,000.
In 2023, approximately ₹14,500 crore was traded on this day, but a decline was observed in 2024 due to Lok Sabha elections. Pankaj Arora, president of the All India Jewelers and Goldsmith Federation, predicts about 12 tons of gold (₹12,000 crore) and 400 tons of silver (₹4,000 crore) sales, citing international uncertainty and the rupee’s decline as contributors to rising prices.
Seasonal wedding demand prompts purchases, with organizations recommending hallmarked jewelry from trusted sources.
