New Delhi, April 29 (H.S.): A bench headed by Supreme Court Justice Surya Kant has ordered a CBI investigation into the collusion between builders and banks in Delhi-NCR. The CBI will investigate the ongoing projects of Supertech in NCR.
In fact, a number of flat buyers from Delhi-NCR had filed a petition in the Supreme Court stating that they had booked flats in projects of Supertech and other builders in areas such as Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram. The flat buyers made these bookings under a subsidy scheme, wherein banks directly provided 60 to 70 percent of the loan amount to the builders. These flats were not completed on time, and now the banks are collecting EMIs from the buyers, despite them not having received possession of the flats yet.
The court instructed the DGPs of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to provide a list of DSPs, inspectors, and constables to facilitate the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The court also directed the Noida Authority, Greater Noida Authority, Ministry of Urban Affairs, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and the Reserve Bank to cooperate in the investigation.
