New Delhi, April 29 (H.S.). The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi will frame charges against BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia and other leaders for violating COVID restrictions in 2020 and for vandalism at the water board office. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Neha Mittal reserved the decision today after hearing arguments from all parties. The court has ordered to announce the decision on May 3.
In this case, Raghav Chadha has filed a petition in court demanding monitoring of the matter. Following Raghav Chadha’s complaint, the Delhi Police registered an FIR at the Countryman Gupta police station in 2020. In this case, MP Yogendra Chandolia, BJP leaders Aadesh Gupta, Ravi Tanwar, and Vikas Tanwar have been accused. The Delhi Police filed a charge sheet in this case under sections 188, 269, 147, 148, 149, and 427 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Pandemic Act.
The Tis Hazari Court had issued summons to the accused on October 17, 2023, upon taking cognizance of the charge sheet. Previously, this case was being heard in the Tis Hazari Court. When Chandolia became an MP, the hearing of this case was transferred to Rouse Avenue Court. Rouse Avenue Court is a special court for MPs and MLAs, which is why the case was transferred from the Tis Hazari Court.
