29 April (HS): A 24-year-old woman was reportedly murdered by a man here after
refusing to marry him, according to police on Tuesday. Surendra Singh Patel,
the accused, opened fire on a police squad while recovering evidence and was
injured in retaliatory gunfire. He has
been admitted to the district hospital for treatment, they added.
The
event occurred during the intervening night of April 27-28 at Kolhuva village,
Paschim Sharira. According to police, Jyoti was attacked when she was sleeping
in her home. They said that her throat
was sliced and that the veins in both of her arms had been severed with a
knife. A murder case has been filed
against an unknown person.
Superintendent
of Police Brijesh Kumar Srivastava stated that multiple teams, including SOG
and police from three stations, were created to investigate the issue. Several
suspects were questioned in light of electronic surveillance, CCTV camera
video, and technical proof. During the inquiry, Patel, 25, from Bhagwatpur
Katari village, emerged as a significant suspect. When questioned, Surendra
admitted to the crime. He told the police that he loved Jyoti and had been
urging her to marry. Circle Officer Abhishek Singh stated that he murdered her
because he was upset by her repeated refusals.
On
Tuesday morning, police escorted Patel to Bhagwatpur to retrieve evidence based
on his testimony. At the scene, the accused reportedly opened fire on the
police with a weapon concealed in a bag. In retaliation, he was shot in the
right leg. Police stated they seized a country-made.315 bore handgun, as well as
the knife used in the crime. Srivastava promised a monetary incentive of Rs
25,000 for police teams that solved the crime and apprehended the suspects
within 24 hours.
