
Bishnupur (Manipur), 30 April (HS): In different operations being conducted in Manipur, a terrorist camp was demolished, a large quantity of weapons and explosives were recovered and two militants were arrested.
A police spokesperson said on Wednesday that security forces conducted a massive search operation in the Nachou Patangkhong area located between Nachou Pattan and Ningthoukhong Pattan Mamang under Bishnupur police station in Bishnupur district. During this, the suspicious floating huts built in the area were surrounded from all sides and intensive search was done to prevent undesirable activities.
During the search operation, the joint team found a hut which was being used as a camp by the KCP (PWG) outfit group. However, the anti-social elements fled from there before the security forces reached there. The hut found on the spot was demolished and destroyed.
During the operation, one SLR rifle and one magazine, one 9mm country made pistol and one magazine, four No. 36 HE hand grenades and one arming ring, two detonators, two lathode bombs, one 81mm mortar shell, two smoke shells, two straw mattresses, one rubber tube, 11 blankets, one pillow cover, one plastic water tank (Supreme Company), 17 fishing nets, one track pant, one bed sheet and one cooking utensil were recovered.
In the second operation, one woman outfit was arrested. Police arrested Khondram Ranjita Devi alias Ichan (28), a resident of Kwaxiphai Mayai Laikai in Bishnupur district, who is an active member of KCP (PWG), from Kwaxiphai area under Bishnupur police station. One mobile phone was seized from her. She was involved in extortion and economic intimidation of the general public, local traders and shopkeepers in Thoubal area.
In another operation, Police arrested a KCP (Noyon) outfit, identified as Yumkhaibam Ronaldo Meitei (23). He was arrested from Khurai Ningthoubang Leikai Maning Leirak, Imphal East district. A mobile phone was seized from him. He was involved in extortion activities.
