2 Anganwadi workers appointment cancelled over utilizing fake BPL certificates to gain employment

Ballia,

02 May (HS): The employment of two women as Anganwadi workers in this Uttar

Pradesh district were annulled when it was discovered that they had obtained

the jobs using forged BPL certificates, top authorities said on Friday. According

to reports, a revenue officer who issued the fraudulent paperwork is also facing

disciplinary punishment. According to Chief Development Officer Ojaswi Raj, the

appointments were made in March at two Anganwadi centers in Ballia Sadar

tehsil: Bajrha village and Repura village, both part of the Belhari project. The

ladies, Gudiya from Repura village and Amrita Dubey from Bajrha village,

produced BPL certificates indicating that their household income was less than

Rs 3,800 per month.

However,

a complaint revealed that both of their spouses work for the government, one

with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the other as a’shiksha mitra

(contractual teacher)’. As a result,

both candidates were disqualified for BPL classification, Raj explained. The

tehsildar ordered a formal inquiry, which revealed that neither of the families

qualified for BPL assistance and that the certifications supplied were

falsified. The probe also uncovered the

participation of Divyanshu Kumar Yadav, a ‘lekhpal (revenue officer)’ from

Aamghat in Ballia Sadar tehsil, who reportedly conspired with the applicants to

give the fraudulent BPL certificates. Raj stated that both appointments had

been cancelled immediately due to this major irregularity.

He

further stated that the child development project officer had been asked to

file FIRs against the two ladies, and that the Ballia Sadar subdivisional

magistrate had been instructed to take disciplinary action against the revenue

official.
