New Delhi, May 3 (H.S.): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticized Congress leader Charanjit Singh Channi’s recent statements, deemed offensive and viewed as supporting Pakistani terrorists. The BJP accused Congress of consistently providing oxygen to Pakistan’s terrorists and army, undermining the morale of the Indian armed forces.
During a press conference, BJP MP Sambit Patra expressed that Congress disregards the seriousness of terrorist attacks and fails to understand the sentiments of the Indian people. He highlighted the sorrow following a recent Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attack in Pahalgam and referenced the Congress Working Committee’s resolutions, which coincided with Channi’s comments during another press briefing.
Channi controversially asserted that the 2019 surgical strikes by India on Pakistan in response to the Pulwama attack were fabricated, igniting significant backlash.
Patra pointed out the panic these strikes generated within Pakistan, as acknowledged by various Pakistani officials. He argued that denying the occurrence of the surgical strikes demoralizes Indian defense forces.
Additionally, he criticized Congress for seemingly collaborating with sentiments prevalent in Pakistan’s political discourse, mentioning that Pakistani senators have noted a lack of support for Modi from Indian opposition parties. This dynamic allegedly prompted Channi to hold his press conference, which was also celebrated in Pakistan.
Channi’s claims included a denial of any surgical strikes and a demand for evidence, igniting further controversy regarding Congress’s stance on national security and its implications for Indian unity in the face of foreign aggression.
