04 May (HS): A Haryana police chief constable has been charged with deceitfully

marrying a government schoolteacher, demanding dowry, and subjecting her to

physical torture, according to authorities on Sunday. The complainant is a

government assistant teacher from the Bareilly District. She married Rahul, a

Muzaffarnagar local, in 2023 and was assigned as a head constable at Haryana

Police Headquarters in Gurugram, according to reports. She said that her

husband began demanding more money, becoming drunk, and beating her soon after

they married.She also accused her mother-in-law and brother-in-law of

emotionally and physically torturing her. Nearly a year into her marriage, the

woman realized that her spouse had previously married four times, she said.

She stated that he intended to

marry another woman, and when she objected, he struck her again, resulting in a

miscarriage. According to a FIR filed on May 1 at Kankarkheda Police Station,

the accused reportedly pushed her into a car, drove her to Meerut, and then

abandoned her at her parents’ home. According to her allegation, police booked head

constable Rahul and two of his family members. Meerut City Superintendent of

Police Ayush Vikram Singh stated that this looks to be a marital disagreement. Both parties were previously counselled, but

the procedure failed. The woman’s

allegation has led to the filing of a FIR.
