Sambhal,
07 May (HS): On Wednesday, a court issued a notice and asked a response from
Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on his purported statements for battling
the Indian state itself. Aarti Faujdar, additional district judge (ADJ-II),
issued a notice in response to a complaint submitted by Simran Gupta, national
president of the Hindu Shakti Dal. During the inauguration of the Congress’ new
headquarters in Delhi on January 15, Gandhi said that the BJP and RSS had
controlled every institution in the country, adding, We are now fighting
the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself. Gupta stated that on January 15,
at the inauguration of the Congress’ new headquarters in Delhi, Leader of the
Opposition (in the Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi stated that our struggle is not just
with the RSS and BJP, but also with the state of India.
“Gupta
said that the statement displayed disregard for the country’s population and
democracy. Rahul Gandhi’s words badly offended the feelings of people around
the country. I had already addressed the
District Magistrate and SP in Sambhal, but no action was taken. As a result,” the complainant stated that on
January 23, he filed a court lawsuit. The court had earlier invited Gandhi to
appear on April 4, but then extended the deadline to May 7 for his response. Due
to his counsel’s absence on Wednesday, a junior lawyer requested a new date,
which the court granted, establishing June 16 as the next day for hearing.
