Mumbai, 13 May (HS): The Maharashtra Government has
decided to provide 20 hectares, 23 R land for the National Forensic Science
University Sub-centre, in Chincholi, in Kamptee tehsil of Nagpur district. The
decision was taken in a cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Chief
Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The National Forensic Science University at
Gandhinagar in Gujarat is the only university of international standard in
India. The university’s sub-centre in Nagpur has been temporarily accommodated
in Vishvas Cell, Police Help Centre building in Parsodi-Subhashnagar on a
rental basis.
The Union Government has sanctioned Rs 120 crore for
the Sub-centre for the 2025-2028 sessions. The Sub-Centre and Laboratory will
facilitate the legal procedure requiring forensic science tests for police and
courts.
