PM Modi’s terrorism policy: autonomous response, no distinction between terrorists and states, zero nuclear tolerance

PM Modi

New Delhi, 13 May (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Adampur Air Force Station in Punjab, announced a new three-point national policy on terrorism, emphasizing India’s determined stance against future attacks. Modi asserted that India would respond to terrorist acts on its own terms, unequivocally link terrorists to the governments that support them, and maintain a zero tolerance for nuclear blackmail.

He stated, India’s ‘Laxman Rekha’ against terrorism is now crystal clear, citing previous military responses, such as surgical and air strikes. Modi outlined that any future attacks would be met with decisive counteractions tailored by India, emphasizing the need for stringent measures against nuclear threats and a unified view on state-sponsored terrorism.

His visit to the Adampur base was steeped in symbolism, showcasing India’s military strength, notably the S-400 air defense system—claimed by Pakistan to have been destroyed in recent strikes. This visit aimed to uplift the morale of the armed forces following Pakistan’s missile and drone attacks.

Modi highlighted Operation Sindoor, where India reportedly eliminated nine terror infrastructures in response to a deadly attack, stressing it as a new norm in counter-terrorism policy. He clarified that while operations against Pakistan are momentarily paused, future actions will depend on Islamabad’s conduct. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force confirmed that its bases remain operational and ready for potential missions.
