Riyadh, May 15 (H.S.): The meeting in Saudi Arabia between U.S. President Donald Trump and Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa has raised concerns in the Middle East, especially in Israel. Al-Sharaa, a former jihadist who led the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, was previously on the U.S. terrorist list. Trump’s remarks about lifting sanctions on Syria have alarmed Israel amid fears of renewed conflict. Trump praised Sharaa’s leadership potential and suggested steps to stabilize relations in the region, including normalizing ties with Israel.
