Bengaluru, May 18(HS): Cricket fans faced disappointment in the 58th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was abandoned due to rain. Continuous rain made it impossible to conduct the toss, and ultimately, the umpires decided to cancel the match at 10:24 PM.
Due to the cancellation, both teams were awarded 1 point each. This result propelled RCB to the top of the points table with 17 points, while KKR’s hopes of reaching the playoffs came to an end. KKR managed to accumulate only 12 points from 13 matches.
On the other hand, Bengaluru’s team has come very close to securing a spot in the top four with 17 points. However, their place in the playoffs is not yet guaranteed, as four teams still have the opportunity to earn 17 or more points.
Meanwhile, the defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders faced a significant setback after being awarded one point from the canceled match. With the 58th match of IPL 2025 washed out, KKR’s hopes of making it to the playoffs have also been dashed. Now, Kolkata Knight Riders sit in sixth place with 12 points, having 5 wins, 6 losses, and 2 matches with no result after 13 matches. Earlier in the current season, a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was also canceled.
