EAM Jaishankar begins six-day visit to the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany on Monday

New Delhi, 19 May (H.S.): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is set to undertake a six-day official visit to the Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany starting Monday. This trip aims to underscore Pakistan’s ongoing support for cross-border terrorism. The choice of these countries is strategic, following Operation Sindoor.

The Netherlands is notable for hosting the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court, offering Jaishankar a platform to reaffirm India’s commitment to international legal standards, particularly regarding the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, amidst potential Pakistani legal actions. Germany, as the leading economy in the EU, is pivotal as India engages in bilateral trade discussions. Denmark, holding a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2025-2026, is significant as India intensifies its diplomatic efforts against Pakistani-sponsored terrorism.

The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that Jaishankar will meet with the leadership of these countries to discuss a range of mutual interests. He is also expected to inform them about India’s military response to the Pahalgam terror attack during the operation, which included the destruction of nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and PoK.
