Quetta, May 21 (HS): On Wednesday, a suicide terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Balochistan province claimed five lives and injured over 38 children when a bus carrying students to an Army Public School was targeted. Yasir Iqbal Dashti, a Senior government official, confirmed the casualties, while the army reported that three children and two adults were among the deceased.
Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, describing it as a brutal assault on innocent children, and warned that the severity of the explosion could lead to a higher death toll. No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. Balochistan has long been affected by conflict between the government and ethnic Baloch separatists. This incident followed a recent car bomb explosion in Qilla Abdullah, which killed four people, and a March train hijacking by the Balochistan Liberation Army that resulted in 33 fatalities, mainly soldiers. The notorious Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan previously targeted an Army Public School in Peshawar in December 2014, killing over 140 children.
