
Delhi, 17 June (H.S.): In early trading, the domestic stock market exhibited weakness, with the Sensex and Nifty dipping into negative territory. Initially, both indices opened positively due to buying support; however, selling pressure soon emerged, leading to declines. By 10 AM, the Sensex was down 0.32 percent, while the Nifty decreased by 0.28 percent. Notable gainers included Asian Paints, NTPC, Kotak Mahindra, State Bank of India, and Axis Bank, with gains ranging from 0.40 to 0.99 percent. Conversely, ONGC, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, and Titan Company saw declines between 0.92 and 1.79 percent.
During the trading session, 2,344 shares were active; 1,473 remained in the green, while 871 were in the red, indicating more stocks gained than lost. In the Sensex, 10 of the 30 stocks were up, while 20 fell. For the Nifty, 13 shares rose, while 37 declined. The BSE Sensex opened at 81,869.47 points, gaining initially before dropping to 81,532.51 points, down 263.64 points. The NSE Nifty began at 24,977.85 points, also experiencing an initial rise, but fell to 24,876.80 points, down 69.70 points. Comparatively, the previous trading day saw the Sensex close at 81,796.15 points, a rise of 677.55 points, and the Nifty at 24,946.50 points, up by 227.90 points.
