Delhi, 13 July (H.S.): A 20,000 sq. ft. Skill Development Centre is being established at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed next week. This initiative was confirmed by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary of the DPIIT, during his visit to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar on July 12, 2025, to assess industrial infrastructure and startup development. The Secretary highlighted the importance of attracting Global Capability Centre (GCC) investments and establishing Research & Development (R&D) facilities at AURIC to bolster the region’s innovation landscape.
Stakeholders suggested merging PMAY 2.0 subsidies with state housing policies to create a unified residential development plan to support a robust industrial township. During an industry interaction session led by the Secretary at AURIC Hall, representatives from organizations like MASSIA, CMIA, CII, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM discussed strategies such as enhancing connectivity among Aurangabad, Hyderabad, and Chennai, establishing an MRO facility, and introducing local train services. Recommendations included increasing MSME land reservation from 10% to 40%, securing 10% land for startups, and improving skill development.
The Secretary also visited the Bidkin Industrial Area, reviewing infrastructure projects, including a water treatment plant and facilities from companies like JSW and Toyota. In Shendra, he toured industrial units that contribute to high-value manufacturing and job creation, aligning with the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision. He visited key infrastructures within AURIC, such as the Integrated Command and Control Centre and water treatment systems, emphasizing the collaborative efforts needed between government and industry for Maharashtra’s global manufacturing positioning.
AURIC encompasses Shendra and Bidkin Industrial Areas in a phased development plan over 4,000 hectares, with essential infrastructure services established to create a modern industrial hub. Auric Smart City prioritizes a balanced development approach, offering a comprehensive setup for industries and community facilities, aided by advanced technological systems for effective governance and transparency in land management, making it attractive for investors.
