Sensex and Nifty decline in early trading

New Delhi, July 14(HS): The domestic stock market is facing pressure as trading begins on the first business day of the week, characterized by fluctuations. The market opened mixed, showing flat levels, but soon encountered selling pressure, leading to declines in the Sensex and Nifty indices. However, after 20 minutes, buying momentum began to emerge, somewhat improving their performance.

By 10 AM, the Sensex was down 0.18 percent and the Nifty fell by 0.12 percent. Among blue-chip stocks, Coal India, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Hindalco Industries, and State Bank of India recorded gains ranging from 0.60 percent to 0.70 percent. Conversely, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj FinServ, and Hindustan Unilever showed declines between 0.73 percent and 2.02 percent.

In total, 2,492 stocks were traded, with 1,169 stocks in the green and 1,323 in the red. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 12 were in the green and 18 in the red, while in the Nifty, 20 were up and 30 down. The BSE Sensex opened with a slight gain at 82,537.87 points but fell to a low of 82,109.44 points due to immediate selling.

Eventually, it was trading at 82,351.74 points, down 148.73 points. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty began at 25,149.50 points, lost over 100 points, and by 10 AM was at 25,120.20 points, down 26.65 points. Last Friday, the Sensex and Nifty had closed significantly lower by 689.81 points and 205.40 points, respectively.
