New Delhi, July 20 (H.S.): Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has been added to the Indian team as a backup for the fourth Test against England due to injuries to Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh. Akash Deep, who contributed to India’s historic victory at Edgbaston, is recovering from an injury that may prevent his participation in Manchester.
During the Lord’s Test, he experienced discomfort in his hip after the 30th over and walked off the field, returning later but not bowling again. Arshdeep is also sidelined with a finger injury from practice, having yet to play in the series. Kamboj has performed well in two unofficial matches for India A, taking five wickets and scoring a half-century against England Lions. The crucial fourth Test is set for July 23 at Old Trafford, with India trailing 2-1 in the five-match series, intensifying the significance of the match amid injury challenges.
