Washington, July 26 (HS): President Donald J. Trump has made a significant decision regarding the education funding (federal education grants) that was withheld before the start of the new academic session in the country. Under pressure from lawmakers from both parties, the administration has announced the release of $5.5 billion in education funding to states. This amount will pave the way for the recruitment of new teachers.

In addition, it will help remove obstacles in the teaching process. This information has been reported by The New York Times citing officials from the Trump administration. Following this announcement, Pasco County School Superintendent John Legg remarked that this decision is good. This federal education grant is expected to reach schools by Monday.

In a notification issued on Friday, the administration stated that no school would misuse this funding. The education department will be free to take action against any unacceptable activities.Due to the withheld federal education funding before the start of the new academic session, many schools in Florida had halted training programs and new hiring.

More than 20 states, including Democratic-led states such as California, Connecticut, New York, and Illinois, legally challenged this move by the Trump administration. The U.S. budget office issued a strict order on June 30, stating that any decision would be made only after reviewing this grant. It is noteworthy that this grant is separate from the states’ general education budgets. It provides assistance for additional educational centers, helps English language learners, supports adult literacy, teacher training, and aids needy students.
