Trump arrives in Scotland for four-day visit.

Washington, 26 July (H.S.): US President Donald Trump arrived in Scotland for a four-day private visit, expressing his pleasure at being in the country. Upon landing at Prestwick Airport, he was greeted by Scottish Secretary Ian Murray and US Ambassador to the UK Warren Stephens. Before heading to his Turnberry resort, Trump spoke to journalists, complimenting UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for achieving a long-sought trade deal, stating, that’s a good deal for the UK. He also praised Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney, looking forward to their meeting.

The presidential motorcade, consisting of over two dozen vehicles and accompanied by law enforcement, arrived at Turnberry around 21:30, where protests awaited. Trump is set to stay at Turnberry before visiting his Aberdeenshire property to open a new golf course, attributing his permit successes to the late Sean Connery, whom he credited with facilitating project approvals.

Trump’s itinerary includes meetings with Starmer and Swinney, while European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will meet him to discuss transatlantic trade relations. Following his visit, Trump will return to the US but plans an official state visit to the UK in September. Significant protests are anticipated in Edinburgh and Aberdeen concurrent with his trip, prompting a large-scale security operation in South Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire, with police from other UK forces providing additional support.

Trump criticized Europe regarding migration and renewable energy, asserting that countries need to get your act together concerning immigration and urging them to stop the windmills, which he claims are damaging landscapes and wildlife. He lamented the proliferation of wind farms, suggesting they are detrimental to natural beauty and ecosystems. Earlier, Trump’s business faced legal challenges regarding a wind power project that he argued would spoil views from his golf course in Menie.

Discussing immigration, Trump characterized illegal migration as an invasion harming Europe, asserting that the US had effectively controlled its borders and implying that Europe must take similar measures. He contrasted the immigration policies of different leaders and claimed some have appropriately handled the situation, while others have not received due recognition for their efforts. Overall, during his Scottish visit, Trump addressed both local political figures and broader European issues, insisting on proactive solutions for migration and energy policy.
