Divya Deshmukh

New Delhi, July 28 (H.S.): Divya Deshmukh has become the fourth Indian woman and the 88th Indian player to earn the Grandmaster title after winning the FIDE Women’s World Cup 2025. The 19-year-old triumphed over Koneru Humpy in the final held in Batumi, Georgia.

She joins Humpy, R. Vaishali, and Harika Dronavali as the only Indian women to achieve this honor. Unlike the traditional path requiring three Grandmaster norms and a 2500 FIDE rating, Divya secured the title by winning the World Cup, marking a significant achievement in her chess career.
