ISI and CTD Agents Abduct Five Baloch Students in Quetta Midnight Raid

Quetta(Balochistan),August 29 (HS): In a brazen pre-dawn raid in Quetta’s Essa Nagri area, officials from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) forcibly abducted at least five Baloch students from their homes. The operation took place at approximately 3:30 AM, sparking fresh outrage in the restive region of Balochistan.

According to reports by The Balochistan Post, the abducted youths include Mohammad Yaseen (17), Shabeek (18), Qadeer Ahmed (18), Qadeer Lalla (17), all FSC students, and Akram Taksir (16), a matric student. All are residents of Turbat’s Shapuk and Umeri Khen Sami areas. The targeted students are sons of local families, stealthily taken during the raid.

The Baloch Yaekjehti Committee (BYC) has condemned the abductions, demanding the immediate release of all students. BYC also highlighted a pattern of enforced disappearances in the region, referencing the earlier detention of BYC activist Nazar Mari at Golimar Chowk and the recent abduction of Yaseen’s son Ajmal by the Pakistani military on August 21. Another case involves the disappearance of Miran, son of Ibrahim, from Awaran’s Zhao area.

These ongoing forced disappearances have fuelled deep resentment and anger within the Baloch community. The BYC urgently appealed to human rights organizations, the media, and the international community to intervene. Pakistani authorities have yet to comment on the allegations of the students’ abduction, deepening concerns over law and order in the province.

This incident underscores escalating tensions and human rights challenges in Balochistan, highlighting the plight of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire of security operations.
