Washington, September 9 (HS) : The White House has firmly denied the authenticity of a handwritten birthday note released by House Democrats that they claim was signed by President Donald Trump and gifted to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. The document, which surfaced Monday, included a crude doodle of a woman and a cryptic message referencing a “wonderful secret.”
The Democrats on the House Oversight Committee posted the note online, declaring, “We got Trump’s birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein that the President said doesn’t exist. Trump talks about a ‘wonderful secret’ the two of them shared. What is he hiding? Release the files.”
Representative Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), the committee’s ranking Democrat, amplified the charge on X, insisting, “We got the Epstein note Trump says doesn’t exist. Time to end this White House cover-up.”
White House Response
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt immediately rejected the committee’s claims, calling the letter a fabrication. In a post on X, she wrote: “The latest piece published by the Wall Street Journal PROVES this entire ‘Birthday Card’ story is false.”
She continued, “It’s very clear President Trump did not draw this picture, and he did not sign it. President Trump’s legal team will continue to aggressively pursue litigation.” Leavitt also accused journalists of bad faith reporting, labeling the scandal “FAKE NEWS to perpetuate the Democrat Epstein Hoax.”
JD Vance also weighed in on social media, echoing the denial. “This isn’t evidence, it’s desperation. Another hoax to smear President Trump when Democrats have nothing real to run on,” Vance posted.
Wall Street Journal Lawsuit
The controversy follows a July report by the Wall Street Journal detailing the alleged birthday note. Trump has consistently rejected the claims, stating, “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures.” He has since filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the newspaper, accusing it of publishing “a fake thing.”
The resurfaced note has reignited political recriminations in Washington, with Democrats pressing for disclosure of Epstein-related files and the Trump White House vowing to challenge what it calls baseless fabrications.
