Global Cues Mixed, Asian Markets Lead with Broad Gains

New Delhi, September 11 (HS): Global markets reflected mixed trends on Wednesday, with Wall Street closing higher, European indices ending on a mixed note, while Asian equities largely traded in the green on Thursday.

In the US, sustained buying in the previous session helped Wall Street benchmarks end firm. The S&P 500 gained 0.30 percent to close at 6,532.05 points, while the Nasdaq ended almost flat with a marginal rise of 0.03 percent at 21,886.06 points. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures were trading higher by 0.11 percent at 45,542.01 points.

European markets closed with mixed results after facing pressure during the session. The FTSE Index slipped 0.19 percent to 9,225.39 points and Germany’s DAX fell 0.36 percent to 22,632.95 points. On the other hand, France’s CAC Index edged higher by 0.15 percent, closing at 7,761.32 points.

Asian markets, however, showed a stronger performance, with seven out of nine major regional indices trading in positive territory. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined by 0.28 percent to 26,127 points, while Singapore’s Straits Times Index dipped 0.03 percent to 4,345.30 points.

On the positive side, India’s GIFT Nifty advanced 0.08 percent to 25,093 points, South Korea’s Kospi gained 0.58 percent to 3,333.73 points, and Taiwan’s Weighted Index surged 1.19 percent to 25,492.58 points. Japan’s Nikkei also rallied 1.16 percent, adding 508.33 points to close at 44,346 points.

Other regional indices also maintained gains, with Jakarta Composite climbing 1.14 percent to 7,786.94 points, Shanghai Composite rising 1.12 percent to 3,855.10 points, and Thailand’s SET Composite gaining 0.72 percent to 1,287.31 points.
