Trump Vows Justice After Charlie Kirk Killing, Warns of ‘Radical Lunatics’

U.S. President Donald Trump briefing Media

Washington DC, September 12 (HS) : U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday addressed reporters in an unscheduled media briefing on the South Lawn of the White House before departing for New York, speaking forcefully on the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and vowing swift action against the gunman.

Trump, who initially appeared subdued earlier in the day, struck a stronger, more forceful tone as he discussed the tragedy and the ongoing manhunt for Kirk’s killer. He confirmed having spoken to Kirk’s widow, Erika, and described her as “absolutely devastated.”

“She’s devastated, absolutely devastated,” Trump said, adding that Kirk was “a great man and a strong advocate of non-violence.”

Investigation and Security Concerns

The president said progress is being made in the investigation but declined to reveal details. “I’d rather not say, I think progress is being made,” he told reporters, calling the attacker an “animal.”

Asked about his personal safety following the incident, Trump said he is “not really” concerned. Instead, he turned the focus to what he described as broader national threats. “I’m really concerned for our country. We have a great country, but a radical left group of lunatics out there. We’re going to get that problem solved.”

Response to the Shooting

On the fugitive gunman, Trump promised decisive action: “Hopefully we’ll have him, and we’ll deal with him very appropriately.” He emphasized that Kirk’s message of non-violence should guide the public response in the aftermath of the killing.

The shooting has shocked the conservative movement, where Kirk was a high-profile figure. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the assailant or establish a motive for the attack, leaving many unanswered questions.

The president spoke at length before boarding Marine One at 16:47 EST (20:47 GMT), using the impromptu briefing to reassure both Kirk’s family and the nation that justice would be pursued.
