
Kathmandu, September 13 (HS): In a diplomatic gesture following political transition, India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, met with Nepal’s newly appointed interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki at Sheetal Niwas on Friday and extended his congratulations on her recent oath-taking. Ambassador Srivastava became the first foreign diplomat to greet Karki after her swearing-in, reaffirming India’s commitment to assist Nepal during its period of crisis.
During the meeting, Srivastava conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s best wishes and pledged robust cooperation to help Nepal navigate the ongoing challenges. Accepting India’s goodwill, Prime Minister Karki expressed her expectation for substantial support from New Delhi to steer Nepal out of its crisis, stating her full confidence that India would continue its tradition of supporting the Nepalese people.
Ambassador Srivastava emphasized India’s readiness to work with Nepal’s interim government on national reconstruction, the forthcoming general elections, and broader socio-economic development. He underscored India’s eagerness to partner for the progress of all sectors and reiterated India’s unwavering solidarity with Nepal and its citizens.
