IED Blast in Balochistan Kills Five Soldiers Including a Captain

Islamabad, 16 September(HS) – A deadly IED blast targeted security forces in Sher Bandi area of Kech district, Balochistan, Pakistan, killing five soldiers, including a captain, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the explosion occurred around noon when a military unit was advancing in the area. The blast claimed the lives of Captain Waqar Ahmed (25) from Loralai, Naik Asmat Ullah (35) from Dera Ghazi Khan, Lance Naik Junaid Ahmed (29) from Sukkur, Lance Naik Khan Muhammad (29) from Mardan, and Sepoy Mohammad Zahoor (28) from Swabi.

ISPR said, “The martyrdom of our brave officers and soldiers strengthens our resolve further,” and reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces are committed to working hand in hand with the nation to eliminate terrorism.

This attack comes shortly after intense anti-terror operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where, between 10 and 13 September, three intelligence-led missions resulted in the deaths of 31 terrorists while 19 soldiers were martyred during the operations.

The security situation remains tense in the region, with authorities continuing rescue, search, and counter-terror efforts.
