Three Police Officers Killed, Two Critically Injured in Pennsylvania Shooting

York County, Pennsylvania , September 18(HS): A tragic shooting in rural York County, Pennsylvania, left three law enforcement officers dead and two others critically injured, officials confirmed Wednesday afternoon. The officers were conducting a follow-up investigation related to a domestic case when they were attacked, and the gunman was fatally shot by responding police.

The incident occurred around 2:00 PM local time in North Codorus Township, near the small community of Spring Grove, which briefly enacted a shelter-in-place order for local schools as a precaution. Authorities later confirmed there was no ongoing threat to the public. Medevac helicopters were seen transporting injured officers from the scene, highlighting the severity of the violence.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro arrived at the site to offer condolences to the families of the fallen officers and emphasized the need for societal change to end violence against law enforcement. “This kind of violence is not OK; we need to do better as a society,” Shapiro said, ordering all state flags to fly at half-mast in honor of the officers.

The FBI and other federal agencies are assisting local authorities in the ongoing investigation. US Attorney General Pamela Bondi condemned the attack, calling violence against police a scourge on our society. The identity of the shooter has not been released, and specifics about the officers’ affiliations have yet to be disclosed as the case develops.
