The S&P 500 advanced 0.44 percent to settle at 6,693.75 points, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq surged 157.50 points, or 0.70 percent, to end at 22,788.98. Asian markets also reflected a patchy performance today. Out of nine key indices, five were trading in the green, while three were in negative territory. Japan’s Nikkei Index remained unchanged due to a market holiday. India’s GIFT Nifty slipped 0.10 percent to 25,262.50. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index tumbled 207.14 points, or 0.79 percent, to 26,137, whereas the Shanghai Composite Index recorded a sharper fall of 1.23 percent to 3,781.61.
