
Kathmandu, October 8(HS): The Election Commission of Nepal has scheduled an all-party meeting on October 16 to discuss preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, set to be held on March 5, 2026.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari confirmed that formal invitations have been sent to all political parties represented in the recently dissolved House of Representatives. Representatives from parties that have secured at least one seat at the provincial or municipal level have also been invited.
According to the election schedule published by the Commission, political party registration will take place from November 17 to 26, followed by the establishment of district-level election offices from November 18. The process for proportional representation candidates will begin on December 1, with submission of closed lists scheduled for January 2–3, 2026.
The official campaign period will run from February 15 to March 1, while March 2–4 will be observed as the campaign silence period. Voting will be conducted nationwide on March 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The election date was announced by the interim government led by Sushila Karki after the dissolution of Parliament, amid political developments that followed the September 8–9 youth-led protests.
