
Jagdalpur, 23 February (HS): In the third phase of the three-tier Panchayat elections in Bastar division, voting in heavily Naxal-affected areas was held from 6:45 am to 2 pm due to security reasons. Voters voted with great enthusiasm amidst tight security in Bastar district’s development blocks Bastanar Bakawand and Tokapal, Kondagaon district’s development blocks Keshkal and Baderajpur, Narayanpur district’s development block Orchha, North Bastar Kanker district’s development blocks Antagarh and Koylibeda, South Bastar Dantewada district’s development block Kuakonda, Sukma district’s development block Konta and Bijapur district’s development block Bhairamgarh.
In this phase, voting took place for the posts of a total of 30 thousand 990 Panchs, three thousand 802 Sarpanchs, one thousand 122 Janpad members and 145 Zilla Panchayat members. Voting includes 26 lakh 37 thousand 306 men, 26 lakh 91 thousand women and 65 people of the third gender community. Under the third phase, according to the data received till one o’clock in Tokapal, Bastanar and Bakawand development blocks of Bastar district, Bakawand has recorded 63.9 percent, Bastanar 66.02 percent, and Tokapal 64.49 percent.
In the third and final phase of the three-tier panchayat elections, more enthusiasm has been seen among rural voters than in the last two phases.
The final phase of voting under the three-tier Panchayat Election 2025 is being conducted peacefully in Ghur Naxal-affected Bhairamgarh Janpad Panchayat area of Bijapur district. A lot of enthusiasm was seen among the voters regarding voting.
At Jangla polling station, 70-year-old voter Dularam expressed his happiness by playing a strong role in this great festival of democracy by exercising his vote.
The elderly voter told everyone to definitely exercise their right to vote. Similarly, 89-year-old voter Hungaram Lekam reached polling station Mingachal with his daughter Jimmo Kursam to vote and exercised his right to vote.
At polling station Petha, an 85-year-old elderly man exercised his right to vote and attracted the voters towards him and told them the value of each vote and became a source of inspiration for the voters to exercise their right to vote.
At the same time, voter Shanti Kudiyami of Bijapur district, who came to vote for the first time, said that she is voting for the first time, she has contributed to the creation of a strong democracy.
