Shenzhen, February 15 (HS): Japan and South Korea performed brilliantly in the Group D matches of the AFC Under-20 Asian Cup. In the match played on Friday, Japan maintained its dominance by defeating Thailand 3-0, while South Korea defeated Syria 2-1.
Hisatsugu Ishii scored the first goal for Japan in the 14th minute. After this, Rion Ichihara scored a goal on penalty in the 33rd minute to increase the lead to 2-0. In the 69th minute, Ryunosuke Sato scored the third goal, ensuring Japan’s victory.
On the other hand, South Korea also performed strongly. Sung Shin scored the first goal against Syria in the eighth minute, while Baek Min-gyu made the score 2-0 in the 23rd minute. Aland Abdi scored for Syria in the 60th minute to raise hopes of a comeback, but they could not get a chance to equalize in the last 30 minutes.
On Saturday, host China will face Kyrgyzstan in its second group match in the tournament. In the first match, China defeated Qatar 2-1. At the same time, Australia and Qatar will face each other in the second match of Group A.
