
New Delhi, October 14(HS): KL Rahul’s assured, unbeaten 58 powered India to a seven-wicket win over West Indies on Day 5 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, clinching the two-Test series 2–0. India had thrashed the visitors by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test at Ahmedabad.
Chasing a modest 121, India resumed needing 58 on the final morning. Rahul and Sai Sudharsan adopted a measured approach before Sudharsan fell for 39, edging Roston Chase to Shai Hope at slip with the total on 88. Captain Shubman Gill counter-attacked but perished for 13, holing out to Chase with India 13 short of the target. Rahul and Dhruv Jurel then closed out the chase without further alarms, Rahul sealing victory with a boundary. India finished 124/3, with Rahul 58* and Jurel unbeaten on 6.
For West Indies, Roston Chase claimed 2 wickets and Jomel Warrican took 1.Earlier, India had declared their first innings at 518/5 before bundling West Indies out for 248 and enforcing the follow-on. The visitors responded with grit in the second innings, posting 390, built around John Campbell’s 115 and Shai Hope’s 103. A stubborn last-wicket stand of 79 between Justin Greaves (50*) and Jayden Seales pushed the contest into the fifth day.
Mohammed Siraj struck with the new ball to dismiss Hope in the second innings, while Kuldeep Yadav ripped through the middle order in a decisive burst. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep finished with three wickets apiece in the innings, with Bumrah ending the resistance by removing Seales.
