Washington, 15 October (H.S.): The United States State Department has revoked the visas of six foreign nationals for social media comments made in response to the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk . The department announced on Tuesday that the individuals, from South Africa, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, and Paraguay, are no longer welcome in the U.S. for celebrating the killing.
The announcement coincided with what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday. On the same day, President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
In a statement on the social media platform X, the State Department declared, The United States has no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans.
The department detailed that it is continuing to identify visa holders who celebrated the heinous assassination.
Among the examples cited was a post from an Argentine national accusing Kirk of spreading racist, xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric.
Another, written in German, stated, when fascists die, democrats don’t complain .This action is part of a wider immigration crackdown by the Trump administration, which has included increased social media vetting of visa applicants. The State Department had previously warned it would take action against any foreigners found to be praising, rationalizing, or making light of Kirk’s death.
Kirk, a prominent 31-year-old conservative influencer, was shot and killed during a speaking event at a Utah university in September .
